Our place

This is a picture of our drive way,
you can tell my hubby is a train driver...
The 373 is a kilometre peg, located at the old location ahead sign at Coondambo siding which is along the railway line north of here, opposite Glendambo.
For information on the Trans-Australian Railway see here.

Our little block marked in red,

Saltbush, saltlakes and sandhill country.
I have had a busy couple of weeks so sorry for the break between posts.

I have been cleaning a couple of houses from top to bottom, the last one was huge and dirty. It took me two whole days with hubby's help and still could have done more to it. The one last week needed the yard tidied up as well so it can be sold. Hubby did that.

In case you are wondering what I do now instead of Family Day Care, I clean houses for a bit extra cash. I run my own cleaning business and clean mainly for a local real estate agent that my daughter works for. This keeps me very busy during the period from August to March, then it quietens down a bit with only the occasional house. Mostly I clean rental houses/units once they have been vacated.

In between time I have been making some homemade goodies that I had run out of and trying to keep up with my own household.

Homemade hand lotion.

Taken from Lady Flo Bjelke-Petersen's Classic Country Collections book:

Combine equal amounts of glycerine, honey, lemon juice and olive oil together. Shake well in a bottle and use when necessary.

Makes my skin feel so soft...
Some laundry detergent using Rhonda Jean's recipe found here:
I also tried out Rhonda Jean's recipe for orange cake, mmm yum, a beautiful moist cake. Possibly very fattening! I sent the remainder with hubby on his trip to Cook when he left tonight. He can get fat instead of me lol.
Our chooks laid 258 eggs in June. They have been laying really well so long as we keep them shut up in their yard until lunch time, otherwise they go wandering and we are not sure where they lay. There is lots of green around at the moment so the egg yolks are a lovely dark yellow colour.

We went for a visit to our daughters little farm last weekend, I will post some photos in the next day or so. She has a menagerie up there with mainly horses of every shape, size and colour. This girl and her partner are real animal lovers.

It is freezing here tonight. Fire is on but my feet are still cold. I think Mr Frost will be here again in the morning...

Best wishes,

xTania

  3. Your life sounds alot like Mine.
The realestate cleaning job sounds wonderful....I clean a trout lodge...see we are very similar indeed.
Your 2.5 acres looks sooo much bigger than that on the map.
I should look upmour 6 acres....It would look deceptive too as it is long and thin.

  4. I love seeing the diversity of our countryside in Australia. From your outback saltbush to the mountains and valley where I live.

  6. welcome back, you have been so busy. Good idea with the cake, if hubby gets fatter then I will look thinner without doing anything at all.

  9. Sounds like the Lord is blessing you so much. I used to make homemade laundry soap, but I just had to replace my front loader because it has no HE lubrication in it. I was bummed. I thought I was saving myself some money. The bering went out, because the berings are in the water in a front loader. I guess I had to learn the hard way. Hopefully you have a top loader!

I was just catching up with what you are doing. I made fabric softener yesterday as that is simple and cheap to make as well.
