Today...

As the frost finished off our tomato plants I decided to make some Green Tomato Pickles from the leftover green tomatoes.

Three kilo of tomatoes made ten smallish jars.

Chopped...

 Bubbling away...

And into the jars...

The recipe I used can be found here:

My kitchen is smelling rather yummy at the moment :)

  1. I hope you're indulging in feelings of virtue and housewifely pride as you survey your pantry shelves - ask Mrs Accident for a badge!

  2. PS Do you read The Accidental Housewife? She is awarding a badge of an Apron Rampant for housewifely activities. I didn't see her blog mentioned on your side bar, so my comment might have seemed a bit odd.

  4. I always make tomato relish and have never thought of anything with green tomatoes. Then again, we don't have frost here so we usually don't have that problem. Am curious to try some of the pickles though so I believe an experiment maybe on the cards!

  19. Those green tomatoes look great! We get stripey green tomatoes from a posh grocery store in Dublin, and we cook them in a covered Staub pot with a whole chicken (or sometime guinea fowl.) They are super good when they are all baked and soft.

  20. Good to see you back, Tania. Sometimes real life gets in the way of blogging , doesn't it.
Your tomato recipe post sounds very inviting , can't wait till it is warm enough to be growing tomatoes again.
