Randomness

Meet Nannie,

This little girl was abandoned...

And the animal lover that is my daughter came to the rescue and gave her a home...

There is some work happening around here while hubby is on holidays...

 Do you like my Pouffe?
Mum got this from her church.
They were having a clean out and this was going to the dump...
Thanks Mum, I'll have that!
It is is perfect condition :)

We bought a Australian leg of ham that was reduced down...

Carved it up...

And froze the slices and bone for later use...

I will make pea and ham soup from the bone :)

Made these yummy cheese and bacon bites from some of the leftover bits of ham...

 And some mini pizza's...

I have been trying more recipes from the onepotchef on you tube,

Turkey and veg that is inside the puffs...

 Chicken pot pie, before...

 After....

Made an old favourite of golden syrup dumplings...

Yum!

This is the recipe that I use, I love the gentle taste of the lemon. Taken from Lady Flo Bjelke-Petersen's cookbook, Classic Country Collections...

Golden Syrup Dumplings

Rub 2 tbspns butter into one cup of SR Flour.
Mix to a soft dough with 1/2 cup milk and form into balls.
Bring 1 cup water, 1 tbspn golden syrup,
1/2 cup sugar and juice of a lemon to the boil and add dumplings to the boiling syrup.  Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

Enjoy!

We bought ourselves a new stereo, not an expensive one, just one that we can listen to all our music,
Haven't had a stereo in ages, I cant even remember the last one...

We purchased a turntable as well so we can listen to all the records we have...

Hubby is having a blast with all his 45's that have been hanging around since his teenage years...
He has about 300 of these!

It plays 33's and 78's too, so now we can listen to our 78's properly without cranking up the old gramophone :)

The wind picking up dust before the rain...

Winter has now arrived,
with our first frost last night, and another week of cold nights to come...

After a day of lovely rain this beautiful full rainbow appeared out of the front door...

And this naughty girl in my front garden...I see she doesn't eat the stinging nettles.  I am saving these for making green manure. The chooks (chickens)  have a whole two acres to roam on but no...my garden is their favourite spot.  My veggies are safe as they have a big fence around them, but the flowers get scratched to bits regularly...

What has been happening around your neck of the woods this week?

xTania

How sweet your daughter rescued little nannie! She sounds like my daughter....of course we wouldn't get anything so neat wandering around here.

  7. Nannie is adorable....A milking goat in the making maybe??
I would love to come for a cuppa & be able to rock on with some classic 70's & 80's music with you.
Although it does seem busy at your place atm. I would be just as comfortable pulling weeds in your vegie patch with you.

    Have a great weekend Tania

  8. What a pretty little nanny goat - what a shame they grow up, but then, one could say the same of most baby creatures. NOT your children of course, Tania. Blessings on Lady Flo, she passed on lots of great recipes!

  9. Hi Tania. That is so funny that you had a rabbit named bullet too! We named our that, because when we first got him, he took off like a "bullet" in our yard, and all I could think of, was that I just wasted my $35! (But luckily we caught him....and he is 9 years old now).

Thanks for your best wishes. Now that things have settled down here, maybe I will get my kids starting to visit me again. I need to make some cookies or something and feed someone!

I use mozilla firefox. But we also have internet explorer on my desktop. My husband prefers that.

    love,andrea

Huh...if only I could bottle all the rain we have had since last Septembre...I'd share!!
What am I doing today? Wellies on (yes, it is raining again) and on to check if the deer, squirrels, raccoons, Stellar Jays, (even the eagles!) left anything for us...Whales swimming in the inlet off our island too...
A big hello from the Pacific NW coast,
