Update on Dad

Thank you all so much for your prayers and well wishes, I am sure they have helped my dad.

I have spoken with Dad this morning and he is doing okay. We are going down to see him today, just organising accommodation at the moment. He doesn't know we are coming otherwise he would try and stop us. He would not like us to go to any trouble, can your believe that?

He is still waiting for a doctor to actually see him and let him know what is happening. The public health system is in a very sad state but that is another story, I will fill you all in later. My parents for the past 30 years or so have paid for private health. Over $2000 a year and are yet to reap the benefits. Dad has been put into a public hospital because that is where the heart specialists are. His lack of treatment has been shocking.

I will be away for a few days to a week, I don't know yet. My parents have to be able to get home to Kimba at some point so we will do that for them. Hoping that tomorrow brings some results for us all.

Stay healthy and safe,

x Tania

  1. Hi Tania

Hope everything goes well in Adelaide. It is a stressful time, thinking of your dad and mum, arranging accomodation etc. I hope things improve at RAH. Anytime our family have had dealing with RAH they have received really good treatment (two were life threatening emergencies - internal bleeding and a severe head injury needing craniofacial surgery). Have faith in the good folk who work there under perhaps trying conditions. Wow I sound like an advocate for the public health system, don't I?
Thinking of you and fingers crossed for a speedy return to good health.

    Cheers - Joolz

  2. I am sorry to hear the private health insurance didn't seem to help. I wonder if they know he has it, I know once they asked a little later in the piece for us, but that was awhile ago.

    I hope everything goes well.

I use this site when I have to arrange something.

  7. Glad to hear your Dad is well for now. By the pollie's own admissions the health system is in a bad way. And another rise in private health premiums coming through this week.
I'm sure he will feel even better when you do arrive. Having family around is good medicine.
    Take care, Tania.

  8. In America alot of people (including me) don't even have any health insurance! But as I follow your blog and have been dealing with a father in law who had open heart surgery and 2 massive heart attacks in the last 2 months, I know what you are feeling. Emotions run wild. I am praying that your father recovers. Maureena
