Homemade goodness...
an easy old fashioned recipe
Rub 2oz butter into 1 cup SR Flour, add pinch of salt, mix to a stiff dough with some milk. Roll out and cover with grated apple and sugar. Roll up and cut into slices 1" (inch) thick. Place side by side in pie dish. Pour over 1 tbspn golden syrup, 1 dspn butter, 1/2 cup sugar dissolved in 1 cup of hot water. Bake until golden brown.
Enjoy!

And then resist the temptation to eat the lot!
ReplyDeleteYum! With the golden syrup, sugar, water mix it sounds a bit like golden dumplings....but with twist. I am going to try that.
ReplyDeleteYes it is a bit different to the roly poly that I remember from years ago, but looks so delicious.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the memory.
Love, Jan
Yummo !
ReplyDeleteThis recipe sounds like it could easily be adapted to use rhubarb instead of or with the apple. Might try that! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOh yum!
ReplyDeleteHi Tania - I've really enjoyed my last hour going through your blog, a fascinating insight into you rlife. Your winters are hotter than our summers! We all get used to what we have. It was -7 degrees centigrade outside today and really dry. It didn't seem that bad really. It's fascinating to read about your use of 'shade' it's not something we think of here! The sun just doesn't get that hot. We have really rich soil here too, it's easy to collect all the leaves and grass, food scraps and make compost. How do you make compsot where it is so dry? Here, because it's wet most of the time, the compost takes years to break down and we have piles of it all over the place.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful apple dessert. It sounds scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds and looks quite delicious! I will definitely try your recipe. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Tania,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your lovely comments on my new blog. I have quietly been following your blog for a while now. I love looking at your photos, they really bring everything to life. It looks like you have a fantastic lifestyle where you live...although very hot in the summer! Something we share. Although being on the edge of the outback i think your conditions would be more extreme. Can't wait to see more photos.
Take Care
Sharon
