Please pray for my Dad

Mum and Dad,
taken at Christmas time 2008.

I can't believe the day that I am having.

I have just received news from my Mum telling me that my dear Dad has had a mild heart attack and has been flown down to Adelaide for more tests. Mum is down there with him as she always is.

I have spoken with him a little while ago and he seems to be okay, joking around, so that is good news. I found out he has an enlarged heart and has had it all his life. I asked why he had not told us about it and his response was "I have always told you I have a big heart!" He said, "I feel and look like a power station with just as many wires hooked up to me". And then "I'm bored and want to go home now."

Dad is due to have more tests on Tuesday to find out what the problem is. He had a checkup with the doctor only three weeks ago and was given a clean bill of health. He will be 74 this year and has hardly ever had any trouble with his health. Dad is not even on any medication, although that may change now. He has been a very fit, energetic man as long as I can remember, I only hope he slows down a little now.

My Dad being the kind, generous person that he is, was helping somebody get things ready for an auction that is coming up in Kimba. With the temperatures in the mid 40's for most of the week, I think he may have overdone it. He does work very hard for a person his age.

I am not sure when or if we need to go down to Adelaide as yet. Apparently doctors don't do weekends so nothing is happening until after then.

Dad is a strong believer in God, so I am asking a favour from all of you that believe to say a prayer for him, please.

He is my dad, he is my hero.

I'm glad your dad is feeling positive and happy. I really hope the results on Tuesday are good. I'll be praying for health for your dad, wisdom for the doctor's and peace for your family.

  4. Hi Tania,
Your dad sounds as resilient as my dad is. My dad had heart problems last year, but after having a pacemaker fitted, his heart is purring along nicely.

At least your dad is in the right place. Hospitals have all the right equipment to keep him alive and well.

Keep your chin up and take hold on this Bible verse:

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10

I'll be praying for your dad.

  5. So sorry tohear your Dads not well. He is in the best place right now and Im sure they'll have him right in no time. He sounds like a feisty old bugger. I will keep you and yours in my thoughts and prayers.

We had a bit of sad news in our family this week too. My nephew's wife had a miscarriage at 17 weeks. No real explanation, just no heart beat when she went to the docs. Sad news but at least they do have two gorgeous healthy kids.

  14. Hello Tania,

Just called in from Linda's blog. I'll keep your Dad in my prayers. My Mum had an enlarged heart all her life and she lived to be nearly 84. Her heart did give her a little trouble in her 70's but she lived on well with a little medication. We had a wonderful last 10 years together after her mild heart turn and I'm sure your Dad will be the same.

    Blessings Gail
