Hello friends,

This week has been very warm and it is set to continue on into next week. The fire inside has not been on, I don't think we will need it anymore this year. 

I had many plans for this week, but I should know better than to make plans because there is always something to cause them to go out the window! Luckily I have still managed to get some things done.

Monday was a beautiful linen wash day...

I added horse poo mulch to my hanging pots...

Also fertilised the fruit trees with dynamic lifter...a bit stinky out there now! I added some to the veggie beds too...

I have worms in the beds. Well I found one, surely there must be more lol...very happy!

A quick trip to my daughters little farm and captured these two special girls.  The baby goat is being bottle fed and my little grand daughter loves her to bits.

Still picking tomatoes...

Been doing a bit of this with all the fine weather...

I potted citronella geranium into these recycled containers. I save these and convert them into wicking pots. 

One dozen eggs were gathered today for the first time this season.  That means almost all the girls are laying at the moment...

I have started trimming the lavender to dry and use for different things like these I found here.

These four naughty girls keep getting out of their pen and scratching where they shouldn't...

And the mango tree has flowers.  These probably wont come to anything, but fingers are crossed.

Hiding among the weeds was this huge sleepy lizard, I cant believe how big some of these are, almost crocodile like haha! They are shy creatures and it was a bit hard to capture a decent photo without too much disturbance.

Another week all done and dusted. There is still plenty to do around here, so I will back outside tomorrow trying to get some more jobs crossed off my list.

this week

Hello friends,

Weather wise this week has been very good, nice and warm with plenty of sunshine. Spring is here!

This was a spectacular sunset we saw a few days ago. I only had my phone to capture this moment, very happy it turned out so well...

Wednesday we went for a trip to nearby Whyalla for an appointment at the optometrist and then enjoyed lunch at the Beach Cafe on the foreshore. It was such a beautiful day!

The wind turbines are increasing in numbers on the hills near Port Augusta.

Our son needed some work done around his yard, so hubby went out to help for a few days.  They have removed some trees to make room to build a shed and cleaned up the front which was overgrown with weeds and in need of some TLC.  It is looking better. 

Tuesday was bonfire day. This will probably be the last one lit on our block as apparently we are not allowed to light them anymore because they can be a nuisance to others.  What is this world coming to?

While hubby was keeping an eye on the fire he decided to mulch some of the branches instead of burning them.

And then this mulch was wheel-barrowed and laid around the fruit trees by my grandson. This is one of the trees dug up from our sons yard, we are hoping it will come back to life, but somehow I don't think so.  It is a guava.

The lizards are everywhere, and one would presume that the snakes are around too, we just don't see them. It is good to see the lizards in such good health after the drought conditions we have had.  They were in poor condition before we received rain back in June, and there has not been much since then.

This one was huge and had a plump tail. This suggests that they are getting food, if the tail is thin, this usually means they are not getting enough.

I have had three baby sleepy's out in the veggie patch. They are just wandering around nibbling on plants and things. I discovered this particular one loves dandelion flowers!

The bees are busily buzzing about doing their thing. They are loving my lavender flowers. I have placed the native bee hotel in the shade near the mandarin tree.  Now to wait and see if any bees find their way there...

The girls are laying well again with between 6- 10 eggs being collected each day.

Hubby has been doing some gardening haha! He brought these home from our sons place.

Today was bread making day. Two lovely fresh sourdough loaves...
