Around Here

Some spring babies
These are baby Swallows J

And they were getting a bit hot up there...
The plug in the picture is the outside telephone bell.  It has been disconnected as it interferes with our phone line and kicks the internet off. You would think the birds could find a better place to built their nest. Gets very hot up there!

They ended up jumping out the nest to escape the heat...and hubby kept putting them back when it became cooler J

Then they learnt to fly...

These swallows come back year after year...

We have had another lizard visitor, this time a goanna...

Caught him heading toward the chook house, and chased him away.
Goanna's will eat eggs and baby chicks!
This one is not as big as they get, they can get quite huge...
Here are some pics I posted of another goanna that made his home here a couple of years ago.

Baby chicks, we have six newbies...

Chicken treat J
Hubby dug up the dirt around the chook house...

They thought it was Christmas time!!

Lazy daug....

Sleeping in the sun...

Hanging some pictures J

Lay out on the floor...

Using newspaper trace the frames, marking where the nail will go, cut out, then arrange on the wall. Bang a nail in where marked.

Not perfect, but close enough

Sorry for my lack of posts, I hope to get back on track soon J
I have taken lots of photos, but haven't been able to find the time to download any lately, life has been really busy.  Hubby has been around the place a lot so when that happens, I get busier...

What is happening in your neck of the woods? Have you been busier than normal?

See you soon,

xTania

  1. Hey,
I like all the photos, glad we don't have lizards like that, we have some but they are 4 or 5 inches long with blue tails that fall off if something gets a hold of them. The tail keeps wiggling to keep the threat attracted. It is getting cold here, below freezing at nights so I need to put plastic on the chicken coop.

  2. Nice to see you back again, Tania. I miss your posts as I always love seeing your photos of life on the edge of the Outback. It has felt a bit like that here lately as it has been so hot and dry but the weather has changed and we are having a week of storms so the garden is happy especially the trees that we never water and have to rely on rainfall.

  3. The dog shot is priceless Tania!
Always nice to catch up on news in your neck of the woods!
Autumn here on the Pacific NW coast, soon Winter...sigh...The one redeeming factor: Holidays!! It's such a 'feel good' period in the year!
    All the best,

  4. Great pictures as always. I really like all the lizards you have, they are very exotic. Glad no snakes come around though, I don't like those!

You have a bunch of chickens. I've got a lot of them too, probably too many. They eat a lot of cracked corn.

    Good to see you back.

  5. Been sick, but on the mend. I am always so grateful our lizards are so small compared to yours. Will post a photo someday soon....you will get a good laugh.

  6. We have just discovered that we have Starlings nexting INSIDE our roof! They are in both our two bay windows so we have a plumber coming to lift the tin off the roof and remove the nest and mess then put wire in the hole where they are getting in.

Still not getting any spring weather here - more drizzles of rain today which is good for the garden - we haven't used our sprinkler system yet!

I haven't been busy in the garden at all and it seems to have kicked into gear and looks a treat, even with my neglect! I seem to spend more time at work now that I have no kids home - boo, I don't like that at all!

    Cheers - Joolz xx

  7. My dog sleeps like that. I'm glad we don't get goannas here. I think it would scare the poo out of our dogs lol
